TURN IT OFF!
There is a good chance that the person who came to your website is at work, where their boss has the unreasonable expectation that they be actually working. The last thing that person needs is your music suddenly blaring out of their cubicle before they can mute it.
The other night I was reading in bed Mrs. L. peacefully asleep besides me. looking at the website of our local zoo. When I clicked on the Big Cats exhibit, a loud roar filled the bedroom. This was followed by another loud roar, that of Mrs. L. wanting to know what the f**k was that!?
Music is great, but make sure that your website or multimedia starts with the sound off, giving the user the choice to listen or not.
